Statement of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia
The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia declares that it has sufficient resources to provide the servicemen with food, clothing and other necessary items. There is no need to organize various fundraising and other events for the abovementioned purposes at this moment. The RA Ministry of Defence highly appreciates the concerns of our citizens and their willingness to support the army in every possible way. Nevertheless, if there is a strong desire to support the army in some format, it is necessary to organize and implement the process in the framework of close cooperation with the Ministry of Defence. Uncoordinated actions can lead to waste or misuse of time as well as material resources without giving the desired result. RA Defence Minister Suren Papikyan visited servicemen wounded as a result of the large-scale aggression of Azerbaijan. Their state of health and the course of treatment were presented to the minister.

ԱվելինThe border situation was presented to Diplomats accredited in RA
On September 16, heads of accredited diplomatic missions and international organizations in Armenia visited regions affected by Azerbaijani aggression. In the city of Jermuk, the First Deputy Minister of Defence of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces, Major General Edward Asryan, presented to the diplomats the situation created as a result of the large-scale aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan on September 13, the damages caused to the civilian infrastructures of Jermuk as a result of the shelling and missile firing, and gave information about the operational situation. Major-General Edward Asryan answered the questions of foreign diplomats, and also referred to the tortures committed by Azerbaijani servicemen against Armenian servicemen who died in combat positions, considering them gross violations of international humanitarian law.

ԱվելինSuren Papikyan had a telephone conversation with Colin Kahl
On September 15, RA Minister of Defence Suren Papikyan had a telephone conversation with Colin Kahl, US Deputy Secretary of Defence for Policy Affairs. Suren Papikyan presented to Colin Kahl the situation created as a result of the large-scale aggression of Azerbaijan, stressing the need for targeted evaluations of the international community in its resolution. The Defence Minister thanked Colin Kahl for his quick response to the situation. Colin Kahl, in his turn, highlighted the importance of maintaining the ceasefire, stressed the need to return to the negotiation table and resolve all existing differences exclusively with diplomatic instruments. Colin Kahl expressed the US position that the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Armenia should not be subject to negotiation.
