Suren Papikyan met with the Minister of Defence of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg
In the framework of his working visit to Luxembourg on June 20, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan met with the Minister of Defence of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Yuriko Backes. Ambassador Tigran Balayan was also in attendance at the meeting. Discussions encompassed the potential for cooperation between Armenia and Luxembourg in security and defence fields, including partnerships in multilateral frameworks such as NATO and the EU, as well as regional security issues. Minister Papikyan presented an overview of the ongoing reforms within the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.

On the sidelines of his working visit to Luxembourg on June 20, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, Suren Papikyan, held a meeting with the Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Claude Wiseler, and members of the Defence Committee of the Chamber of Deputies. During the meeting, discussions were held concerning defence cooperation between Armenia and Luxembourg, as well as regional security issues. Furthermore, Minister Papikyan presented the “Crossroads of Peace” project developed by the Government of the Republic of Armenia.

On June 19th, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, Suren Papikyan, held a meeting with the Military Adviser and Chief of the Military Staff to the President of France, General Fabien Mandon. During the meeting, they discussed the ongoing cooperation between Armenia and France in the field of defence, as well as prospective programs. The Minister of Defence provided an update on the reforms within the Armenian Armed Forces and the level of support of France in this context. Additionally, issues related to regional and international security were addressed.

On June 17th, on the sidelines of his working visit to France, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, Suren Papikyan, met with the Minister of the Armed Forces of France, Sébastien Lecornu. During the meeting, the current state of defence cooperation between Armenia and France was discussed. The Minister of Defence of the RA provided an update on the progress of defence reforms in Armenia and the activities carried out within the framework of cooperation with France in this direction. On June 14th, at approximately 8:20 a.m., the body of contract soldier Armen Gurgen Gasparyan was discovered with a gunshot wound in the security station of the N military unit of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia. An investigation is currently underway to fully elucidate the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Ministry of Defence extends its deepest condolences and support to the family, relatives, and comrades of the serviceman.
