Suren Papikyan attended the working dinner of Defence Ministers from the EU and partner countries

On May 28th, Minister of Defence Suren Papikyan, at the invitation of High Representative for the EU Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/ Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, attended the working dinner of Defence Ministers from the EU and partner countries. The event was organized within the framework of the Schuman Security and Defence Forum, where issues related to European security were discussed. During the event, Suren Papikyan engaged in bilateral discussions concerning defence cooperation with the Ministers of Defence of Sweden, Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus, and Georgia.

Minister of Defence visited the headquarters of the "John Cockerill" company

In the framework of his working visit to the Kingdom of Belgium, Minister of Defence Suren Papikyan visited the headquarters of the "John Cockerill" company. During the meeting with the company's Chief Executive Officer, Thierry Renaudin, Minister Papikyan was briefed on the company's products and future projects. Suren Papikyan received Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium

On May 23, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, Suren Papikyan, received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to the Republic of Armenia, Eric de Muynck. The Minister of Defence congratulated Ambassador de Muynck on commencing his mission in Armenia and wished him success in fulfilling his responsible duties. During the meeting, the perspectives of cooperation between the defence ministries of the two countries were discussed. Regional security issues and the ongoing reforms in the Armenian Armed Forces were also addressed.

Suren Papikyan sent a message in connection with the death of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and his accompanying staff as a result of the helicopter crash

Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, Suren Papikyan, sent a message of condolence to the Minister of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics of Iran, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani, in connection with the death of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, and his accompanying staff as a result of the helicopter crash. The message reads as follows: "I was deeply saddened to learn about the death of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and their accompanying officials. As a close and friendly country to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Armenia received the untimely tragic news of the deaths of President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and their accompanying officials with profound sadness. We express our deepest condolences to the relatives and friends of the victims and wish strength and steadfastness to the pious Iranian people. On behalf of the Ministry of Defence of Armenia and personally from me, please accept our words of consolation and unwavering support."

The Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia participated in the Defence Exhibition IDEB-2024

From May 14 to 15, a delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, Karen Brutyan, at the invitation of Ministry of Defence of Slovakia, participated in the Defence Exhibition IDEB-2024 in Bratislava. On the sidelines of the exhibition, the delegation had meetings with officials, including with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the Slovakia, Robert Kaliňák, the General Director of the Investment and Trade Development Agency of the Ministry of Economy Slovakia and the enterprises of the military-industrial complex. The meetings touched upon issues of military technical cooperation between Armenia and Slovakia, under which a number of agreements were reached.

The first defence consultations between the Ministries of Defence of Armenia and India were held

On May 14, the first defence consultations between the Ministries of Defence of Armenia and India were held at the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, under the chairmanship of the Head of the Department of Defence Policy and International Cooperation MoD of Armenia, Levon Ayvazyan, and the Joint Secretary for International Cooperation Ministry of Defence of India, Vishwesh Negi. The consultations were also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to the Republic of Armenia, Nilakshi Saha Sinha, and the Defence Attaché, Brigadier General Naveen Nijhawan. During the consultations, the present state of cooperation between Armenia and India in the defence sector and prospects for future development, including military-technical, military education and combat training of personnel, exchange of experience and others, were discussed. Additionally, the meeting addressed issues related to regional security. Levon Ayvazyan provided an overview of the ongoing reforms within the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Protocol on the results of the consultations was signed, which approved the Cooperation Plan between the Defence Ministries of Armenia and India for the years 2024-2025, and provided for the establishment of a joint working group on the issues of bilateral defence cooperation.

Within the framework of the strategic command and staff exercise, which commenced today in the Armed Forces of Armenia, command posts have been deployed at the administrative complex of the Ministry of Defence and tactical training is conducted. The efficiency of the activity on planning and provision of military branches and subdivisions is checked, and new approaches to the command of troops are presented. Subdivisions and working groups, formed to implement the tasks set by the leadership of the Armed Forces, analyze various scenarios, make decisions and present reports.

The head of the military academy participated in the conference of heads of military educational institutions

From May 7 to 10, the conference of Heads of the military-educational institutions of NATO member and partner states was held in Washington, in which the Head of the Vazgen Sargsyan Military Academy of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, Colonel Arsen Mangasaryan, also attended. In the framework of the conference, modern methods of training and education for future commanders and leaders were discussed, and actions aimed at addressing current and future challenges were outlined. During the conference, Arsen Mangasaryan met with the heads of partner institutions and reached an agreement on the expansion of cooperation.

The readiness and the quality of the executed works of the mobile field hospital of the Armenian AF were highly praised

On May 9, the closing ceremony of the Vigorous Warrior 2024 military medical exercise was held at the Bakonykuti training center near the Varpalota region of the Republic of Hungary, with the participation the personnel of the Role 2 field hospital MTF, operating under the Military Medical Department of the Ministry of Defence. The closing ceremony was also attended by Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, Arman Sargsyan and Head of Military Medical Department of the MoD, Colonel Gegham Pashikyan. According to the results summed up, the readiness and the quality of the executed works of the mobile field hospital of the Armenian Armed Forces, were highly praised. The servicemembers, who participated in the medical exercise, showed the best results, were encouraged by the Director of the MILMED COE, Colonel Dr. László Fazekas. The mobile field hospital of the AF RA has also received an invitation to attend in the following similar military exercise, the planning of which has already commenced. During the exercise, the mobile field hospital of the Armenian Armed Forces was also subjected to medical assessment according to NATO standards by NATO experts. Based on the preliminary results of conducted processes the hospital was recognized as "Interoperable", which gives an opportunity the mobile field hospital to be involved in various multinational peacekeeping missions in the future. On the sidelines of closing ceremony of the exercise, meetings were also organized with the Heads of Military Medical Services of the NATO member states, and issues related to further cooperation were discussed. It is worth noting that more than 1,600 representatives from 32 countries and 7 civilian organizations are participating in the Vigorous Warrior 2024 military medical exercise.

On May 3rd, the active phase of the Vigorous Warrior 2024 military medical exercise commenced at the Bakonykuti training center near the Varpalota region of the Republic of Hungary. The personnel of the Role 2 field hospital MTF, operating under the Military Medical Department of the Ministry of Defence, participated in the opening ceremony of the exercise. The Director of the MILMED COE, Colonel Dr. László Fazekas, congratulated the participants, emphasizing that military medical exercises provide an excellent opportunity to learn from each other in a friendly and collaborative environment, exchange knowledge and experience, and deepen cooperation. The primary objective of this multinational military exercise is to enhance practical skills as part of synchronized actions aimed at increasing the efficiency of interaction between the medical support systems of NATO member countries and partner countries. It is worth noting that more than 1,600 representatives from 32 countries and 7 civilian organizations are participating in the Vigorous Warrior 2024 military medical exercise.
