Suren Papikyan received the delegation led by CSTO Secretary General
On March 16, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan received the delegation headed by CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov, who arrived in Armenia on a working visit. The sides exchanged views on a number of international and regional security issues, including the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border zone and the military-political situation around Armenia. Particularly, touching upon the border zone situation, Suren Papikyan presented the long-term problems regarding the implementation of CSTO collective defence mechanisms and the expectations of the RA Ministry of Defence.

On March 13, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces opened fire from different caliber firearms towards the Armenian combat positions located in the direction of Verin Shorzha. There are no casualties from the Armenian side. As of 10:00 p.m., the situation on the frontline is relatively stable.

On March 13, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan received the Founding Chairman of Rasmussen Global (RG) international political consultancy firm and former Secretary General of NATO, Anders Fogh Rasmussen and firm’s representatives. The Minister of Defence presented the recent regional developments and the resulting situation. The sides discussed a range of regional security issues at the meeting.

On March 11, Minister of Defence Suren Papikyan, in the course of the visit to the N military unit of the Defence Ministry, met with the soldiers who had completed two-year compulsory military service. The head of the Defence Ministry expressed his gratitude to the servicemen for serving the Motherland with honor and devotion, wished success for their further activities. Also meeting with the parents and relatives of the demobilized soldiers, Suren Papikyan expressed his thanks to them for bringing up such patriotic boys.

On March 11, the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan spread a disinformation that Azerbaijani video surveillance systems, allegedly, had recorded the military equipment column of the RA Armed Forces accompanied by the Russian peacekeepers passing along the Stepanakert-Ghaybalishen-Lisagor road. The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia once again announces that it is a disinformation. There are neither units of the RA Armed Forces nor military equipment in the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh.

On March 11, the Minister of Defence Suren Papikyan continued having private talks with the officers of MoD N Military unit. In the framework of the private talks, Minister Papikyan touched upon the strengthening of the troops’ combat capability and the measures directed to the troops’ discipline, as well as a number of military service issues. Suren Papikyan also inquired about the social and living conditions of the officers. The head of the Ministry assured that the MoD does its best to increase the efficiency and quality of the officers’ service and to implement a number of programs addressed to their social security.

ԱվելինA memorial ceremony was held in honor of the immortal heroes
On March 10, a memorial matinee in honor of our immortal heroes was held in the Hrachya Ghaplanyan Drama Theatre. The ceremony was dedicated to the courageous heroes martyred while defending the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia during the large-scale military aggression unleashed by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces overnight September 12-13, 2022. The memorial matinee started with blessing words. United Lord's prayer was held for the peace of the victims' souls. In his speech, the Mayor of Yerevan Hrachya Sargsyan emphasized that the courage and holy memory of the boys who were martyred for the defence of the motherland obliges us to strengthen our country with daily hard work and create a peaceful future. The memorial matinee ended by the reading of the Decree of the President of the RA and the ceremony of posthumously awarding to the motherland defenders for their exceptional courage and bravery during combat operations and handing state awards to their relatives were held.

On March 10, Minister of Defence Suren Papikyan met with the squads’ commanders of the military unit on combat duty, seniors of combat positions and strongholds in the N Military unit. Minister Papikyan touched upon the strengthening of the troops’ combat capability, combat readiness, as well as presented the main provisions of the Defence Ministry reforms. Minister Papikyan listened to the conscripts’ concerns and proposals on combat duty. At the end of the discussion, the Minister gave relevant instructions and recommendations to the officers and commander of the military formation. The Defence Minister also had private talks with the officers.

On March 10, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan visited the southwestern border zone of the RA. Minister Papikyan toured the combat positions, observed the organization process of the combat duty and had talks with the military personnel. The commanders of the Army Corps and the military unit reported the border zone’s current situation in detail. Suren Papikyan got acquainted with the personnel's combat readiness, accommodation conditions and listened to the reports of maintaining the security rules. The Minister of Defence paid special attention to the building and engineering works of strongholds and observation posts. At the end of the visit, the Defence Minister expressed his gratitude to the guards for their distinguished service and vigilant defending of the border zone entrusted to them. Suren Papikyan observed the large-scale construction works of new infrastructures carried out on the front line.

On March 10, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan made an unexpected visit to the Military Unit N of the Defence Ministry. Minister Papikyan toured the military unit and got acquainted with the construction process. The head of the Defence Ministry also met with the recruits who had joined the military service months ago, inquired about their service, observed the tactical military training courses defined by the curriculum. Suren Papikyan paid a visit to the training range of the military unit, got acquainted with the possibilities of the shooting range, and had a talk with the military personnel involved in the practical shooting trainings.
