Defence Minister's visit to the military units are going on
In the course of the working visit to military unit N, the Minister of Defence had a meeting with the platoons of the military unit on combat duty, squad commanders and the senior soldiers of combat positions. Suren Papikyan listened to the servicemen’s concerns and proposals. The Minister instructed the command staff to observe the process of engineering works trying their best improve the combat positions. Minister Papikyan expressed conviction to the seniors of combat positions that the MoD will spare no effort to organize the safe combat shift of the servicemen and provide them with all the necessary means.

ԱվելինThe Minister of Defence has had private talks with the officers of the military unit
After the visit to military positions, the Minister of Defence toured the military unit, got acquainted with the conditions of permanent deployment sites, observed the drills of subdivisions and upcoming planning processes of battalions for combat duty. Afterwards, the Minister has had private talks with the officers of the military unit. The officers covered issues on military planning processes, on the conduct of subdivisions and educational training. During the private talks Suren Papikyan paid attention to the social and living conditions of the officers and also the process of housing program. The Minister urged to improve their physical state with extra trainings and tactical skills to receive higher marks during the certification exams. Suren Papikyan ordered the all commanders of the units to increase the level of discipline in all spheres, especially among servicemen on combat duty. The head of the defence department urged to eliminate unacceptable behaviours and non-statutory relations among the troops through moral-psychological talks.

ԱվելինSuren Papikyan’s visit to the south-eastern border zone
On March 2, Minister of Defence Suren Papikyan paid a working visit to the south-eastern border zone and the combat positions of the Republic of Armenia. The commander of the military unit on combat duty presented the current situation on the frontline to the Defence Minister. Commander reported to the Minister on the large-scale engineering and fortification activities conducted along the border zone. Minister Papikyan had talks with the contract servicemen on combat duty and wished them vigilant and safe military service.

On March 1, in the course of the working visit to the MoD N military unit Minister of Defence Suren Papikyan had a meeting with the senior soldiers of the combat positions, platoons, and sections’ commanders on combat duty. The personnel, which is responsible for the defence of the front line reported to the Minister on the upgrading of combat positions, engineering equipment and rear support. Defence Minister expressed conviction that the MoD will make an effort directed to the defence of the motherland and fulfillment of fortification. The senior soldiers of the combat positions reported to the Minister Papikyan that the combat positions are equipped with ammunition, food and fuel. The Minister of Defence gave some instructions to strictly observe safety rules while using ammunition, as well as fire security. Minister Papikyan assigned to keep discipline, noting that new methods will be organized to exclude vicious phenomena among the troops in the future.

On March 1, in the course of the working visit to the MoD N military unit Minister of Defence Suren Papikyan shared a meal with conscripts, heard their opinion and proposals concerning the food. Minister Papikyan had a talk with the soldiers about the organization process of military service, combat duty and rear support. Suren Papikyan presented the changes related to the uniform of the Armed Forces personnel to the servicemen. The head of the defence department assured that the uniform, which is presently being designed will differ in quality and national elements in the insignias. Afterwards, RA Minister of Defence Suren Papikyan, accompanied by the commanders of Army Corps and military units, visited RA southeastern border zone, combat positions, talked with the conscripts on combat duty, as well as the commanders. Suren Papikyan paid special attention to the building and engineering works of strongholds, trenches, observation posts, combat positions and accommodation conditions. The Minister of Defence gave instructions to the commanders to give additional vacation to the best servicemen during the combat duty.

On March 1, in the course of the working visit to the MoD N military unit, Minister of Defence Suren Papikyan greeted the personnel of the military rank. In his speech, Minister Papikyan emphasized the importance to the progress of servicemen during combat training , theoretical and practical training. Suren Papikyan paid attention to the strengthening of the troops’ combat capability, ensuring full combat readiness, and presented the main provisions of the Armed Forces' reforms. The head of the defence department assigned the officers to be intolerant against the vicious phenomena and non-statutory relations in the troops. Afterwards, Minister Papikyan had private talks with the officers, heard their concerns, proposals, and concerned of military service and social security. Suren Papikyan presented the details of upcoming certification process to the officers and expressed conviction of its positive impact on the combat readiness of servicemen. The Minister of Defence gave some instructions to the command staff of the Army Corps and military unit.

On February 28, Minister of Defence Suren Papikyan paid a working visit to the southwestern border zone of the Republic of Armenia. Minister Papikyan had been in the combat position,observed the organization process of the combat duty, talked with the military personnel. The commanders of the Army Corps and the military unit reported the current situation in the border zone to the Minister. The commanders presented the progress of the large-scale engineering works conducted on the front line, fortification of combat positions, implementation of new infrastructures to the Minister, adding they will be continuous.

Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Karen Brutyan, who is in the Russian Federation on a working visit, met with Russian Deputy Defence Minister Alexander Fomin. A number of issues related to bilateral cooperation and regional security were discussed at the meeting.

During the conversation with the commanders and deputies of battalions, companies and platoons, Minister Papikyan urged to strictly follow and strengthen the statutory relations in the units, have daily talks and ensure normal military service by using educational measures. Suren Papikyan ordered to pay attention to the safety rules of using weapons, military equipment and to increase vigilance in combat duty areas. Minister Papikyan also emphasized the application of reward and punishment during the conversation with the commanders of the unit in order to ensure positive results in the battalions, following the example of the best servicemen.

On February 28, a meeting chaired by Minister of Defence Suren Papikyan was held on “Current problems of military discipline in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, their cause-and-effects and ways of improvement" in N Army Corps. The commanders of the garrison military unit, their deputies, clergymen, representatives of the regional law enforcement system attended the meeting. In his report, the commander of the Army Corps presented the statistics of the discipline violations in the military unit, the revealed cases which analysis will allow to find new solutions against such incidents. Minister of Defence Suren Papikyan stressed the importance of excluding the repetition of such incidents and strengthening the fight against non-statutory relations and vicious phenomenon in the Armed Forces. Suren Papikyan emphasized that the most important measure of struggling the vicious phenomenon is to reveal the real causes of the incidents and take preventive decisions. During the consultative meeting, command staff of the Army Corps also made speeches, presenting the details of combat and non-combat losses, incidents according to the analysis. The Minister of Defence gave instructions to the command of the garrison military police division to conduct in detail study of every case recorded in the military units and combat positions and to strengthen not only the discipline control, but also to exclude the use of smartphones among servicemen. Minister Papikyan mentioned that relevant efforts will be taken in the future.

During the visit to one of the military units of the Republic of Armenia, Minister of Defence Suren Papikyan had private talks with the officers. Minister Papikyan paid attention to the officers’ questions related to the service of the divisions and administration of the military unit and presented the package of reforms of the Armed Forces. The head of the defence department had been interested in the combat service, tactical training, theoretical and practical skills of the troops. During the talks, Suren Papikyan also inquired about the social and living conditions of the officers and expressed confidence about the successful beginning stage of certification which will enable to increase the salaries of the officers, non-commissioned officers and contract servicemen significantly.

ԱվելինMinister of Defence Suren Papikyan continues visiting MoD military units
On February 27, Minister of Defence Suren Papikyan visited N Army Corps. At the end of the consultation with the military command, Minister Papikyan gave proper instructions to the heads of the responsible units. Later, Defence Minister visited one of the shooting ranges of the Army Corps, followed the fire training process of the units, talked with the servicemen, being interested in a number of issues concerning the service organization. Minister Papikyan urged the contract servicemen to multiply their efforts in order to receive an appreciation during the certification exams in the future and use an opportunity to achieve results. Suren Papikyan also visited N military unit of the Ministry of Defence, observed the drill readiness trainings of conscript servicemen, got acquainted with the military units and barracks’ living conditions, discussed issues related to the troops’ combat capability and full combat readiness with the leadership of the military unit. The minister also familiarized with the progress of the construction works of the newly built barracks.
