Suren Papikyan paid a working visit to the NATO Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe

Within the framework of the working visit to Brussels, RA Minister of Defence Suren Papikyan visited NATO's Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE). An official ceremony was held with the participation of the guard of honour and military band, which attended NATO SHAPE command, military representatives of NATO and partner countries.

On April 10, between 01a.m and 02 a.m a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan was found and arrested in the territory of the Republic of Armenia. According to him, another serviceman also was with him, whose search operations are still going on.

Suren Papikyan left for Brussels

On April 10, the delegation led by the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan, left for Brussels on a working visit.

The curriculum of the Military University and the admission process were presented

On April 6-7, within the framework of activities aimed at increasing the attractiveness of military service, the head of the Military University after Vazgen Sargsyan of the MoD of RA, Colonel Arthur Yeroyan and Assistant to the RA Defence Minister Harutyun Matevosyan met with the 12th grade pupils from Gegharkunik Province. Colonel Yeroyan presented the admission process to the pupils, the curriculum, as well as various opportunities to study abroad. The cadets of the Military University were also attended the meeting, who emphasized the importance of the honourable profession they had chosen, the busy daily life of the University and the educational process. The meeting concluded with a question-and-answer session.

A discussion was held on the topic "Promoting the involvement of women in various subdivisions of the Armed Forces"

On April 7, a meeting was held on the topic "Promoting the involvement of women in various subdivisions of the Armed Forces" in the administrative complex of the RA Defence Ministry. Speeches were made on the promotion and increasing the women's role in the military service. The speeches and the recommendations within the course of the discussion will be summarized and presented to the Minister of Defence.

The delegation of the U.S. Army Europe and Africa paid a working visit to Armenia

The delegation led by the Deputy Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army Europe and Africa Operations Directorate Brigadier General Patrick Ellis visited Armenia on April 5-7. During his working visit, Brigadier General Patrick Ellis met with Ministry of Defence officials to discuss the training personal possibilities, conducting joint exercises, sharing experience and knowledge opportunities. The delegation also visited the educational military units and MoD Peacekeeping Brigade’s training facility in Zar.

The Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan continues to spread disinformation claiming that units of the Armenian Armed Forces opened fire towards the Azerbaijani combat positions located in the Southeastern part of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border zone on April 7, at around 1:20p.m-1:45p.m.

On March 31, at around 10:50 p.m., in extremely low visibility conditions, a skirmish took place between the servicemen of the RA Armed Forces in the southeastern border zone of the Republic of Armenia. During the shooting, shots were fired from the Azerbaijani side as well. After the incident, the body of conscript Hrachya Ara Sarukhanyan was found with a fatal gunshot wound. Another serviceman was injured: the injured serviceman's life is not in danger. An investigation is carried out to clarify the circumstances of the incident. The MoD of the Republic of Armenia shares the heavy sorrow of the loss and expresses support to the family, relatives and co-servicemen of Hrachya Sarukhanyan.

The military collaboration agreement for 2023 between Armenia and Greece has been signed

On March 28, the Head of the Defence Policy and International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Defence Levon Ayvazyan and the Head of the International Organizations Section at Hellenic National Defence General Staff, Brigadier General of the Hellenic Army Vasileios Tsamis signed the Armenian-Greek military collaboration agreement for 2023. The program signing confirms the strong military ties of the two countries and further strengthens the operational capabilities and the level of interoperability of the Armed Forces.

The session of the Armenian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission

On March 28, the 16th regular session of Armenian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation has launched in the administrative complex of the Defence Ministry of the Republic of Armenia. Opening the session and welcoming the participants, Deputy Minister of Defence Karen Brutyan emphasized the importance of strengthening and developing bilateral military-technical relations. The Deputy Minister of Defence expressed hope that during the session there will be effective discussions related to the prospects of cooperation.

Operational Meetings

According to the training plan for the 2023 educational year, on March 28, the three-day operational meetings commenced in the administrative complex of the Ministry of Defece with the leadership of the RA Armed Forces. There will be reports, lectures and demonstrative trainings within the meetings. Defence Minister Suren Papikyan greeted the attendees on the first day of the meetings. Touching upon the regional military-political situation and the challenges the Armed Forces are facing, the Minister highlighted the importance on continuous strengthening of the troops’ combat capability, the implementation of the front line fortification works, as well as discussed in detail the reforms launched in the Armed Forces.
