The first cohort of reservists has accomplished a 25-day training
On March 25, the first cohort of reservists held in the new format accomplished their 25-day training. In this regard, a solemn event was held in one of the military units of the RA Ministry of Defence. The Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces, First Deputy Minister of Defence, Major-General Edward Asryan greeted the reservists and, on behalf of himself and the Minister of Defence, expressed gratitude for participating in the trainings with great willingness, vigilance and discipline on combat duty. Emphasizing the importance of such trainings and the need for continuous improvement of military skills in the course of the above-mentioned trainings, Edward Asryan awarded the best reservists on combat duty with certificates of honour and valuable gifts.

ԱվելինSuren Papikyan issued instructions regarding the construction works of the military unit
On March 25, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan visited the territory of the N military unit intended for the women's division and conscript women’s training center, toured the area and got acquainted with the building conditions. The acting head of the Construction and Housing Department of the Ministry of Defence reported to Minister Papikyan about the details of the earthquake-resistance of the military unit’s buildings, as well as the buildings subject to reconstruction and repair. The head of the Ministry issued relevant instructions regarding the deadlines for the design and implementation of the construction.

ԱվելինDefence Minister’s visit to the combat positions
On March 24, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan visited the southwestern border zone of the RA and observed the ongoing engineering works. The Head of the Ministry instructed to pay attention the process of modernization and re-equipment of the combat positions and to present the needs that are priority for the complete and efficient organization of the unit’s military service on combat duty. Afterwards, Suren Papikyan visited the combat positions of the border zone, met with the contract servicemen on combat duty, brought up issues related to the military service. Minister Papikyan urged to demonstrate greater activity in combat, physical and shooting trainings. At the end of the day, the Minister had private talks with the officers, listened to the issues of interest and presented the upcoming activities.

On March 24, within the scope of the visit to the N Army Corps, Defence Minister of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan also visited one of the military units on combat duty, inspected the area, observed the military service and the process of combat and physical training. After the visit to the military unit, the Minister met with the conscripts who had completed the two-year military service, expressed gratitude for their conscientious military service and for honorably serving in the Armed Forces. Afterwards, the Head of the Ministry had private talks with the officers of the military unit. Suren Papikyan listened to their concerns, presented the upcoming activities of the MoD and the process of the Armed Forces reforms.

On March 24, The Minister of Defence visited the permanent deployment site of the military unit on combat duty. Suren Papikyan attended the ceremony on sending off the staff ready for combat shift to the combat positions. In his speech, Minister Papikyan wished the servicemen safe service, assuring the MoD will make it's effort to improve the conditions of military service, combat duty, as well as servicemen’s social conditions.

On March 23, the defence attachés of foreign embassies accredited in the Republic of Armenia visited the Training Centre of the Defence Ministry named after Marshal Baghramyan . The Commander of the military unit introduced the representatives of military diplomatic delegation some details of military unit’s history, structure, tasks and activities, as well as answered the questions. After the briefing, the defence attachés toured the military unit, inquired about the social and living conditions of servicemen and the educational and material base.

ԱվելինSuren Papikyan looked over the south-eastern border zone of the Republic
Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan looked over the south-eastern border zone of the Republic and was introduced with the combat duty process within the framework of the visit to the N Army Corps on March 23. Defence Minister paid a special attention to the engineering equipment of the combat positions and accommodation conditions. The Head of the Ministry instructed the Commanders of subdivisions, the heads to the rear support on ammunition and food supply, as well as providing engineering means to the combat positions. During the talks with the position guards, the Minister also paid attention to the issues related to the reforms of the Armed Forces, particularly, contract service’s new possibilities, that will have a positive effect on the professional army. Afterwards, Suren Papikyan visited one of the Army Corp's subdivision, which is in reconstruction phase. The minister inspected buildings, familiarized with the progress of the construction, also gave instructions to the officials to complete the works within the specified period and to maintain the construction norms of the buildings.

The head of the Ministry greeted the staff training for combat duty, wished them safe and vigilant service. Suren Papikyan urged to follow the security rules, as well as to carefully organize the military service and disciplined combat duty, especially in bad weather. The Minister gave relevant instructions to the command staff. On March 22, at around 4:20 p.m., a serviceman of the N military unit of the Ministry of Defence Arshak Sargsyan, was lethally wounded by enemy fire in a combat position located near Yeraskh village. The MoD of the Republic of Armenia shares the heavy sorrow of the loss and expresses support to the family, relatives and co-servicemen of Arshak Sargsyan.

On March 21, at around 12:20 p.m., serviceman of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia M. G., lost in the terrain and crossed into the Azerbaijani controlled territory with his vehicle, while transporting food to the outpost, in low visibility conditions and foggy weather, according to the preliminary information. The search and rescue operations were launched immediately. Actions are being taken to confirm the presence of the serviceman on the Azerbaijani controlled territory and to return him.
