Consultation led by the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia
On January 9, a working consultation was held under the leadership of Defence Minister Suren Papikyan, in which the leadership of the RA Ministry of Defence, the Armed Forces and the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the command of the army corps participated. During the meeting, a number of issues related to the work carried out in the Armed Forces were discussed, in particular, engineering and fortification equipment on the front line, rear, moral and psychological support, and measures aimed at improving discipline were also touched upon. The Minister of Defence was informed about the implementation of the instructions given during the previous working consultations. Appropriate instructions and tasks were given to the heads of the responsible departments regarding the issues raised.

Ahead of the winter conscription, on January 4, Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces, First Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Edward Asryan visited the republican assembly point, conducted a drill inspection, observing the preparations for the conscription on site. E. Asryan was presented with details regarding the procedures for accepting, medical examination and drawing of conscripts. The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the First Deputy Minister of Defence gave appropriate instructions and recommendations to conduct the winter military conscription at a proper level.

On December 23 at around 3:15 a.m, units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces opened fire from different caliber firearms towards the Armenian combat positions located nearby Verin Shorzha village. The Azerbaijani armed forces also used mortars. No casualties from the Armenian side. As of 8:30 a.m of December 23, the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border zone is relatively stable.

On December 21, the head of Defence Policy and International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Defence Levon Ayvazyan met with the military attaches of foreign embassies accredited in Armenia. During the year-end closing meeting, the works carried out in the current year were summarized, the guests were presented with a briefing on the reforms being implemented in the field of security and defence of RA. It was noted that in 2023, a more dynamic cooperation in the military-diplomatic sphere is expected.

Head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, 1st Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Edward Asryan received the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Armenia Fan Yun. Senior Colonel An Qian, Attaché for Defence Affairs of the Chinese Embassy, was also present at the meeting. The sides highly appreciated the level of bilateral cooperation, including in the defence sector. The interlocutors expressed willingness to continue cooperation in peacekeeping, military education and medicine, as well as the organization of mutual visits of high-ranking delegations.

On December 17, the 30th anniversary of the formation of the radio-electronic combat troops of the Armed Forces was solemnly celebrated in one of the military units. The event was attended by the Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces, First Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Edward Asryan, and other high-ranking military officers. The speakers touched upon the formation of the REC and the path taken, stressing the role of its subdivisions in strengthening the combat capability of the army. At the end of the event, a number of servicemen were awarded with departmental medals, certificates of honor and valuable gifts.
