Meeting-consultation in the administrative complex of the Ministry of Defence
On January 28, a meeting was held in the administrative complex of the Ministry of Defence dedicated to the 31st anniversary of the formation of the Armenian army. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, members of the Security Council, high-ranking officials and servicemen took part in the event. The attendees honored with a minute of silence the memory of the servicemen who died as a result of the tragic incident of January 19. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Defence Minister Suren Papikyan gave speeches. Then, according to the results of the 2022 academic year, the army corp and military units recognized as the best with high indicators of combat training and exemplary military discipline were announced.

On the occasion of the Army Day, the RA military-political leadership visited the "Erablur" military pantheon and paid tribute to the memory of the Armenians who sacrificed their lives for the defence of the Motherland. The attendees laid flowers on the graves of Sparapet Vazgen Sargsyan, Andranik Ozanyan and a wreath on the memorial complex to the memory of the fallen freedom fighters.

From January 25 to 27, a professional gathering of officer-lawyers of army corps, military units and military training institutions was held in the administrative complex of the RA Ministry of Defence under the leadership of Deputy Minister of Defence Arman Sargsyan. During the gathering, special attention was paid to improving legal education and legal awareness in the Armed Forces, ensuring law and order, strengthening military discipline and legality, developing and carrying out measures against vicious phenomena, and the importance of deepening cooperation with law enforcement agencies was emphasized. On the eve of Army Day, the participants of the meeting visited the "Yerablur" pantheon, paid tribute to the memory of the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the defence of the Motherland.

On January 26, under the leadership of the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan, a meeting of the board under the Minister of Defence was held with the agenda "The state and ways to increase combat readiness, training, command of troops, moral and psychological support of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia in the 2022 academic year". At the end of the board meeting, the Minister of Defence gave a number of instructions to the heads of structural divisions.

By the decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan dated January 24, Major General Arakel Martikian was relieved of the post of Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia. By another decree of the President of the Republic of the same day, Colonel Samvel Movsisyan was appointed the Chief of the General Intelligence Department of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces and the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces.

On January 23, RA Defence Minister Suren Papikyan received Toivo Klaar, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and Georgia crisis. Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Victorin also participated in the meeting. Toivo Klaar expressed his concerns about the situation around the Lachin Corridor. The parties discussed the latest developments in the region. The interlocutors expressed hope that at the meeting of the EU Foreign Ministers' Committee a decision will be made on implementing a new EU civilian observation mission in Armenia.

Minister of Defence Suren Papikyan visited the National Center of Burns in order to visit the servicemen with burns of various degrees as a result of the fire on January 19. The medical staff presented the Minister of Defence with details about the health condition of the servicemen and the course of treatment. Talking to the servicemen, Minister Papikyan wished them a speedy recovery.

On January 21, RA Minister of Defence Suren Papikyan, accompanied by Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, First Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Edward Asryan and high-ranking military personnel, visited army unit 2. After honoring the memory of the servicemen who died in the fire on January 19 with a minute of silence, sharing the heavy grief of the loss, and sending condolences to the relatives and family members of the servicemen, the Minister of Defence introduced the newly appointed commander of the army corp, Colonel Garegin Poghosyan, to the command staff of the army corp.

On January 19, at around 10:50 a.m., a serviceman of the N military unit of the RA Defence Ministry Y. Sh., sustained a gunshot wound from Azerbaijan shooting at an Armenian combat position located in the direction of Yeraskh. The serviceman's health condition is assessed as serious. An investigation is being conducted to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.

ԱվելինThe Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia visited the central assembly point of the Defence Ministry
RA Minister of Defence Suren Papikyan, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, First Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Edward Asryan's center visited the assembly point of the Defence Ministry in order to get acquainted on site with the works of the winter conscription that started on January 9. Those responsible for the conscription process presented to the head of the defence department the process of meeting and accepting, medical examination of the conscripts, as well as the organization of the draw. Suren Papikyan toured the assembly point, gave instructions to conduct the whole conscription process effectively and properly. The Minister of Defence also talked to the young men going to serve and wished them a good service.
