Suren Papikyan participated in the opening ceremony and plenary session of the 12th Xiangshan Forum
On September 18, as part of his visit to the People’s Republic of China, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan participated in the opening ceremony and plenary session of the 12th Xiangshan Forum in Beijing on September 18. The Forum is held under the motto “Upholding International Order and Promoting Peaceful Development” and features a program comprising four plenary sessions, eight simultaneous sessions, and a series of additional events.

On September 17, within the framework of the Xiangshan Forum in Beijing, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan attended an official multilateral reception hosted by Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People’s Republic of China, Colonel General Zhang Youxia. During the event, Minister Papikyan held informal discussions with Vice Chairman Zhang Youxia, Minister of Defence Admiral Dong Jun, as well as other high-ranking officials.

ԱվելինSuren Papikyan received the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Armenia
On September 2nd, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Mehdi Sobhani, on the occasion of the completion of his diplomatic mission in the Republic of Armenia. The Minister highly appreciated Ambassador’s contribution to the strengthening RA-IRI relations and expressed gratitude for joint effective cooperation and significant achievements as a result. During the meeting, issues related to the bilateral agenda, as well as the latest developments in regional and international security were discussed. In the conclusion of the meeting the Minister of Defence Suren Papikyan awarded the Ambassador with a departmental medal for effective cooperation.

On August 20, the closing ceremony of the Armenia-U.S. joint exercise “EAGLE PARTNER 2025”, held in Armenia as part of the preparations for participation in international peacekeeping missions, took place. During the ceremony, the leadership of the exercise expressed gratitude to the personnel for their effective cooperation, the successful implementation of the joint training activities, and the exchange of experience.

On August 19, First Deputy Minister of Defense-Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, Lieutenant General Edward Asryan, the U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Kristina Kvien, Assistant Adjutant General, Commander Kansas Army National Guard, Brigadier General Carlin Williams, foreign Defence Attachés accredited in the Republic of Armenia, as well as other high-ranking military officials, observed the ongoing Armenia-U.S. joint exercise “EAGLE PARTNER 2025”, conducted in preparation for participation in international peacekeeping missions. The distinguished visitors observed the active phase of the practical exercise.

On August 12, the commencement of the Armenia-U.S. joint exercise "EAGLE PARTNER 2025" was announced. The opening ceremony was attended by the First Deputy Minister of Defence-Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, Lieutenant General Edward Asryan, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Armenia, Kristina Kvien; senior military personnel; and guests. During the ceremony, the national anthems of the Republic of Armenia and the United States, as well as the official anthem of the Eagle Partner exercise, were performed. The servicemembers participating in the exercise were formally welcomed by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Edward Asryan, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Armenia, Kristina Kvien. The ceremony concluded with a ceremonial march-past. As a reminder, in preparation for participation in international peacekeeping missions, the Armenia-U.S. joint exercise "EAGLE PARTNER 2025" is being held from 12 to 20 August in the Republic of Armenia. Servicemembers from the peacekeeping brigade of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, U.S. Army Europe and Africa, and the Kansas National Guard participate in the exercise. The primary objectives of the exercise are to: Enhance the interoperability of units participating in international peacekeeping missions, Exchange best practices in control and tactical communication, Improve the readiness of the peacekeeping unit of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia. The exercise program also includes the preparation and execution of peacekeeping operations with an emphasis on medical evacuation procedures.

On August 4, at approximately 1:10 p.m., units of the Azerbaijani armed forces opened fire on an excavator engaged in construction work on inter-position roads, located 4,500 meters northeast of the Verishen settlement in the Syunik Province. There were no casualties reported. We urge the Azerbaijani side to conduct an investigation into the shelling and to provide public explanations.

In preparation for participation in international peacekeeping missions, the Armenia-U.S. joint exercise "EAGLE PARTNER 2025" will be held from 12 to 20 August in Armenia. Servicemembers from the peacekeeping brigade of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, U.S. Army Europe and Africa, and the Kansas National Guard participate in the exercise. The exercise will focus on preparation and execution of peacekeeping operations with a strong emphasis on medical evacuation procedures. The purpose of the exercise is to enhance the interoperability of units participating in international peacekeeping missions, exchange best practices in control and tactical communication, and improve the readiness of the peacekeeping unit of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia. Units preparing for international peacekeeping operations regularly engage in similar joint military exercises and training with partner countries.

On July 17, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to the Republic of Armenia, John Gallagher, on the occasion of the completion of his diplomatic mission. Minister Papikyan expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Gallagher for the joint efforts and the achievements reached within the framework of Armenia–United Kingdom defence cooperation. During the meeting, the parties discussed a range of issues related to bilateral defence cooperation, as well as matters of international and regional security.
