The Minister of Defence received the Ambassador of the Argentine Republic to the Republic of Armenia
On September 20, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, Suren Papikyan, received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Argentine Republic to the Republic of Armenia, Rafael Enrique González Alemán. The meeting focused on exploring opportunities for defence cooperation between Armenia and Argentina, as well as addressing issues related to regional security.

ԱվելինSuren Papikyan received the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic along with the Defence Attaché
On September 19, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to the Republic of Armenia Miroslav Hatsek along with the newly appointed Defence Attaché Colonel Milan Shinta. The Minister of Defence extended his congratulations to Colonel Shinta on his assumption of office and wished him success in his new role. During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for cooperation between Armenia and Slovakia in the field of defence and expressed their readiness to further develop it. They also touched on issues related to regional security.

On September 13, during his visit to the People’s Republic of China, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, Suren Papikyan, participated in the opening ceremony and plenary session of the 11th Xiangshan Forum, held in Beijing. The Forum is organized under the theme “Promoting Peace for a Shared Future.” The program includes four plenary sessions focusing on security cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region, trends in the International Order, the development of the Global South, and World Peaceful governance mechanisms.

ԱվելինSuren Papikyan met with the Minister of National Defence of the PRC
On September 12, on the sidelines of his visit to the People’s Republic of China, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, Suren Papikyan, met with the Minister of National Defence of the PRC, Admiral Dong Jun. During the meeting, the interlocutors underscored the elevated level of relations between the two countries across various domains, including defence. The parties also noted the substantial progress in military cooperation in recent years, including the exploration of new areas. The Ministers expressed their commitment to further advancing Armenia-China cooperation, including enhancing high-level interactions between the Armed Forces of both countries. Additionally, a range of issues related to international and regional security was also discussed.

Of note: The Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia has proposed the establishment of a joint Armenia-Azerbaijan mechanism for investigating ceasefire violations and/or related cases, to which Azerbaijan has not yet responded.

On September 10, on the sidelines of his working visit to the Republic of Korea, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan participated in a ministerial working lunch and round table discussions. The discussions covered the key topic of the summit, which is the promotion of the responsible use of artificial intelligence for military purposes. Additionally, issues concerning international and regional security challenges, as well as the enhancement of bilateral and multilateral relations, were addressed with several counterparts: Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Korea Shin Won-sik, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Cho Tae-yul, Minister of Defence of Singapore Eng Hen Ng, Minister of Defence of Finland Antti Häkkänen, and other experts attending the event.

On September 9, as part of his working visit to the Republic of Korea, the Minister of Defence of Armenia Suren Papikyan attended the opening ceremony of the “Responsible Artificial Intelligence in the Military Domain” summit. The event was organized by the Ministries of Defence and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Kenya, with the aim of establishing international mechanisms to regulate the use of artificial intelligence in military technology and military operations.
