On May 17, the acting Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Vagharshak Harutyunyan had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Sergey Shoigu.

Vagharshak Harutyunyan presented to his Russian counterpart the situation created by the provocation carried out by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces on May 12-13. The Armenian Defence Minister said that despite the agreement reached during the talks, several groups of Azerbaijani servicemen have returned to their starting positions, some of them still remain in the territory of the Republic of Armenia, which means that the problem in general, is still not resolved. Vagharshak Harutyunyan considered the encroachments on the sovereign territories of the Republic of Armenia unacceptable, emphasizing that the further development of the situation may lead to unpredictable consequences.

The Defence Minister of the RF assured that the issue is in the center of attention of the military-political leadership of the Russian Federation, that official Moscow will make all the necessary efforts to resolve the situation peacefully.
