The Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia had telephone conversations with the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation

In the evening of November 17, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia David Tonoyan had telephone conversations with Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, General of the army Sergey Shoigu.

During the telephone conversations, the Ministers discussed the operative situation in the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh and current issues related to the activities of the Russian peacekeeping contingent. The Minister of Defence of Armenia thanked his counterpart for the quick and effective deployment of the peacekeeping unit, as well as for the organization of the activities on the detection and exchange of the killed servicemen, captives, hostages and missing in action.

A special attention was paid to the humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. The Minister of Defence of Armenia expressed his support for the establishment of the Russian interdepartmental humanitarian response center in Nagorno-Karabakh, which will deal with the return of the refugees, restoration of the civilian infrastructures, search for the killed, captives and missing persons and coordination of the activities of various organizations in the humanitarian field.

An agreement was reached to sign a trilateral document between the Ministries of Defence of the Russian Federation, Armenia and Azerbaijan in this field, if necessary.
