Nine ceasefire violations were recorded on the northeast portion of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, on the night of April 17th and 18th. The Azerbaijani side fired towards Armenian positions with assault rifles and sniper rifles of various calibers. In addition to rifles, the AGS-17 grenade launcher was also used.

Front line subdivisions of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia resorted to counter measures only in the case of strict necessity, and are confidently monitoring the situation on the border.

According to information received from the Defence Army of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, the situation on the line of contact between the Armed Forces of NKR and Azerbaijan remained the same on the night of April 17th and 18th.

The adversary has violated the agreed upon ceasefire along the entire length of the front line over 50 times. 82mm mortars were used three times on the northeast (Martakert) direction of the line of contact.

Two incidents were recorded as a result of ceasefire violations. Erik Borisi Matevosyan, born in 1991 and Azat Tigrani Barsamyan, born in 1996 were wounded while posted in combat positions situated in the north.

In addition to the shooting, the Azerbaijani side attempted to infiltrate the border with a reconnaissance-sabotage group of about 20 individuals at approximately 01:00. The NKR forces detected the attempt and stopped it in a timely fashion.

Front line subdivisions of the Defence Army continue to monitor the situation on the front line and carry out the tasks set before them.
