On January 29, First Deputy Defence Minister of the Republic of Armenia Davit Tonoyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to Armenia, H.E. Jonathan Aves and the Defense Attaché Lieutenant Colonel Nick Wilkes (resident in Tbilisi).

During the meeting, the sides discussed a number of long-term programs carried out bilaterally by both Ministries, in particular, the UK consulting assistance with the second stage of the Strategic Defence Rerview launched in December 2013, with introduction of professional NCO corps in the Armenian Armed Forces, and with training and education to Armenian servicemembers in British educational institutions and training centers. D. Tonoyan noted that ARM Ministry of Defence enjoys longstanding experience of constructive cooperation with British partners, and plans to deepen the partnership- an intention shared likewise by the British side. The sides also agreed to initiate new programs of cooperation in the near future. Other issues of bilateral cooperation and regional security were also discussed.
