On August 2, in Kosovo, within the framework of the KFOR mission, a solemn ceremony of handing over the command and the presentation of medals took place. The 33rd Armenian Military Group (commander, senior lieutenant G. Mikaelyan) handed over the RA state flag to the 34th Armenian military group (commander, captain A. Sargsyan).

The event was attended by KFOR Deputy Commander, Brigadier General Gunter Schopf, KFOR Chief of Staff, Brigadier General John Meyer, Base Commander Colonel Mark Stanton, representatives of about two dozen nations and other guests. The Armenian military parade was led by the platoon commander of the 33rd military group, senior lieutenant A. Yeghiazaryan.

Brigadier General G. Schopf praised the service of the 33rd Armenian contingent, describing it as professional, responsible and conscientious. He stressed that the 33rd military group arrived in Kosovo at a rather difficult time for Armenia, which once again proves the professionalism and high level of the RA Armed Forces.

At the end of the ceremony, KFOR Command awarded the servicemen of the 33rd Armenian Military Group with medals, diplomas and souvenirs.
