Vagharshak Harutyunyan met with Sergey Shoigu

On May 28, Acting Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Vagharshak Harutyunyan met in Moscow with the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, Army General Sergey Shoigu.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the process of the peacekeeping mission in Nagorno Karabakh, the situation in Armenia's Syunik and Gegharkunik regions, as well as issues related to the Armenian-Russian bilateral military cooperation and regional security.

The RA Defence Minister presented to his Russian counterpart the details of the penetration of the Azerbaijani armed subdivisions into the territory of Armenia and the actions taken by the RA Armed Forces. Vagharshak Harutyunyan stressed that the Azeri provocations carried out under the false pretext of "border adjustment" are absolutely unacceptable, the Azerbaijani subdivisions must leave the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia immediately.

The parties considered possible options for resolving the situation and reached an agreement on the necessary steps.
