Event dedicated to the anniversary of the formation of the Defence Committee

On May 7, a solemn event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the formation of the Defence Committee under the Government of the Republic of Armenia took place in the administrative complex of the Minictry of Defense.

The Defence Committee, a military governing body established on May 4, 1991, became one of the pillars of the formation of the National Army. In a fatal and critical period for the Armenian people, the Defence Committee assumed a number of important functions: recruiting volunteers, coordinating the actions of spontaneously formed defence detachments, organizing the production of weapons and ammunition, ensuring the security of the population of border areas, etc. The Defence Committee operated until February 16, 1992.

Highly appreciating the contribution of the committee members to the construction of the army, the acting defense minister Vagharshak Harutyunyan presented certificates and departmental medals to the members of the Central Office of the Defence Committee on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the formation of the structure.
