On February 22, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia Vagharshak Harutyunyan received the delegation led by the EU Special Representative for the Crisis in the South Caucasus and Georgia Toivo Klaar. The meeting was also attended by the head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Vitorin.

The RA Minister of Defence presented to the guests the situation in the region after the war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, as well as the implementation of the provisions of the joint statement of November 9. Vagharshak Harutyunyan stressed that Azerbaijan does not comply with the provisions of paragraph 8 of the statement on the return of prisoners of war and other detained persons and uses this process for political purposes to exert additional pressure on Armenia.

In his turn, Toivo Klaar noted that the European Union supports the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and is ready to contribute to the intensification of negotiations in this format.
