Ambassador Tracy congratulated Vagharshak Harutyunyan on assuming the post of Minister of Defence and wished him success.

At the request of the Ambassador of the USA, the Minister of Defence presented the course of the implementation of the agreements reached after the cessation of the military operations. The issue of returning the captives, finding the missing persons, exchanging the bodies of the killed, as well as the intensive work that is being carried out with ICRC, the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation and command staff of the Russian peacekeeping contingent deployed in Artsakh were highlighted as a priority.

The Minister of Defence also informed that the analysis of the military operations and assessment of the omissions are being carried out, which may lead to the structural changes, changes in the decision-making procedures and tactics, as well as to the legislative changes.

During the meeting, the possibilities of giving a new course to the Armenian-American cooperation in the defence field were also discussed. The sides agreed that as a result of the additional discussions, new directions and fields of the cooperation will be initiated, arising from the priority interests of the sides.
