The Republic of Armenia has been carrying out the international peacekeeping mission since February of 2004 when the 34-member peacekeeping force left for Kosovo to carry out a peacekeeping mission as part of the Greek subdivision. The participation of Armenia in the Kosovo peacekeeping mission being conducted by NATO continues to this day.

In January of 2005, the peacekeeping subdivision of the RA Armed Forces joined the multinational peacekeeping mission in Iraq as part of the Polish subdivision, mainly participating in the activities of demining, cargo transportation and medical care. The subdivision of the RA Armed Forces was withdrawn from Iraq in November of 2009.

Since February of 2010, the peacekeeping subdivision of the RA Armed Forces has been included in the Northern Command of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), which operates under the command of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The Armenian peacekeepers performed selfless service in the military arsenals located in the capital of Afghanistan, Kabul, Kunduz, as well as in the cities of Mazar-i-Sharif.

The next mission of the Armenian peacekeepers in Lebanon is the UNIFIL mission under the auspices of the United Nations. The Lebanese peacekeeping mission was launched in December of 2014 with the participation of the Armenian platoon of 32 servicemen.

The servicemen of the peacekeeping brigade of the RA Armed Forces took part in numerous  international and multinational military exercises, always keeping high the honor of the Armenian serviceman and receiving praise and awards by the command staff and foreign high-ranking servicemen.
