Armenian Ministry of Defence, UN Population Fund sign 2019 cooperation programme

Col Alexandr Avetisyan, the head of the MOD Centre for Human Rights and Good Conduct, and Tsovinar Harutyunyan, the UN Population Fund Armenia Office executive, signed on 2 May the 2019 cooperation programme between the Armenian Ministry of Defence and UN
Population Fund.

The annual cooperation programme has been implemented since 2014.

Under the 2019 programme, a number of events, aimed at fostering women's involvement in the armed forces, with a special focus on involving women in peacekeeping units. The planned events are also aimed at engaging women in policy development and decision-making processes, as well as development of the culture for protection of rights and equal opportunities for women.

The parties also reached an agreement on considering the possibility of setting up a children’s centre of MOD employees.
