New appointments made in Armenian Armed Forces under Armenian president’s decree

Republic of Armenia President Serzh Sargsyan signed on September 28 a decree appointing Maj. Gen. Artak Davtyan the commander of the 5th Army Corps, relieving him of the post of the General Staff’s Operative Department.

By another decree signed on September 28, the Armenian president dismissed Gen. Maj. Artur Simonyan from the post of the Peace Corps Brigade commander, and replaced him by Col. Vaghinak Sargsyan, formerly the chief of the General Staff’s Intelligence Department: a one year contract, commencing September 30, 2017, was signed with him.

On September 29, President Sargsyan signed a decree to appoint Maj. Gen. Tiran Khachatryan the chief of the General Staff’s Operative Department, releasing him from the position of the head of the Armed Forces’ Military Training Department.

By another presidential decree of September 29, Maj. Gen. Arakel Martikyan was appointed the chief of the General Staff’s Intelligence Department: he was relieved of the position of the Armenian Armed Forces’ representative in the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
