A meeting of the conscription commission took place on June 24th. The result of the winter draft and questions concerning the proper conduct the 2017 summer draft were discussed as well. Leaders of relevant agencies, regional governors, regional military commissars, members of the medical commission, as well as representatives of organizations involved in organizing the draft were present.

The main briefing was made by the military commissar of the Republic of Armenia, major-general Henrik Muradyan. Speaking with regards to the results of the winter draft, the military commissar presented both its positive aspects and its shortcomings. References were made to the number of conscripts and to those deemed unfit for service, statistical data concerning registration and the work carried out by military commissariats and medical commissions.

 

Summarizing the results of the meeting, Vigen Sargsyan expressed the importance of preserving an atmosphere of fairness and transparency and reducing the risk of corruption during the draft. The head of the defense administration once again highlighted the need to be consistently watchful and strict and maintain full supervision of the summer draft, with special attention paid to medical commissions in order to exclude the recruitment of unhealthy recruits while also detecting those who attempt to avoid the draft by faking unhealthiness or through other illegal means, with the goal of implementing relevant punitive measures towards those individuals.
