The “Best Battalion Mortar Platoon” competition has concluded

In accordance with the 2015 Armed Forces training plan, the final stage of the “Best Battalion Mortar Platoon” competition was held in the training ground named after Marshal Baghramyan, from May 20 to 23.

Participating platoons demonstrated their abilities through shooting drills and physical exercises. In the framework of cooperation between the Armed Forces of the Republics of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, the competition was also attended by representatives of the Defense Army. The annual competition was conducted in 3 phases. The third and final phase was attended by the 6 best mortar platoons of the ARM and NGR Armed Forces, each team composed of 10 servicemembers. For the first time, the competition was conducted in a centralized manner and the participants approached it with great responsibility. An uncompromising rivalry spread amongst the contestants. The physical preparedness of the contestants was tested first, thereafter they handed tests evaluating the level of their professional skills. The best mortar platoon was selected by the committee headed by Lieutenant Colonel Pavel Topchyan who indicated that, compared with previous years; the level of professional military skills of the platoons has increased. The winner of the competition was the infantry battalion mortar platoon of the Defense Army. The second and places were respectively occupied by representatives of the 5th and 2nd Army Corps. By the decree of the Chief of General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, Colonel-General Yuri Khachaturov, the winning platoons were awarded with certificates.
