The US Kansas delegation travels to Armenia to participate in the events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial
24 April, 2015 00:00The delegation from Kansas headed by Lieutenant Governor Jeff Colyer and Adjutant General Lee Tafanelli, was invited by ARM Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan to attend the events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial, in Armenia.
On April 23-24, the delegation met with the leadership of the ARM Ministry of Defense and took part in the events commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
Throughout the meeting with ARM Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, General Lee Tafanelli noted that, considering the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the state of Kansas and the fact that April 24th has been declared Memorial Day in their state; in the objective of further developing Armenian-Kansas relations, the 24th of April has been officially announced the day of the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide by the decree of Kansas Governor, Mr. Sam Brownback.
The ARM Minister of Defense extended his gratitude to the guests for standing by the Armenian people and thus demonstrating great moral support. Seyran Ohanyan stressed the importance of bilateral cooperation in the field of defense within the framework of sustainable development and the implementation of numerous programs.
At the end of the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor and Adjutant General handed over a copy of the decree of Governor Sam Brownback to the ARM Defense Minister.
