20 April, 2015 00:00Today, ARM Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan attended the events held in the primary school #44 named after Hrant Dink, dedicated to the discussions on the Declaration on Armenian Genocide and also the commemoration of the innocent victims of the Genocide.
ARM Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan greeted the guests and praised the lessons and commemorative events devoted to Genocide recognition, condemnation and demand for restoration of justice in the context of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The teaching staff and students were presented with general information on a variety of historical and legal evidence of the atrocities and tortures carried out by Turkish authorities in 1915.
During the open class entitled “Lessons on the Armenian Genocide and the Armenian Army, as a guarantor for the prevention of genocide”, the Minister of Defense stated that, for centuries the Armenian people had to go through hardships and overcome many obstacles, but was able to do so with great honor. It is no coincidence that today Armenia is recognized as an independent state with an interoperable, efficient and competitive army, which can genuinely prevent such cruelties and atrocities, such as the Armenian Genocide.
Seyran Ohanyan spoke about the formation stages and peculiarities of the Armenian Armed Forces, and assured that today, in the same way as during the Artsakh War, the Armenian soldier is firmly holding his position on the border, prepared to accomplish any task and respond to any enemy attacks.
The event was accompanied by students’ performances, as well as the presentation of various opinions and works on the Armenian Genocide carried out by local and foreign intellectuals.
At the end of the event, the ARM Defense Minister answered all questions asked by students, which were mainly directed at the occurring reforms within the military-industrial sector./DIV>
