AGBU delegates hosted by the ARM Ministry of Defence

Today, the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) delegation headed by the president of the organization Perch Setrakayan was received at the administrative complex of the ARM Ministry of Defence.

Owing to many charitable programs, the AGBU has become a unique bridge between the Motherland and the Diaspora. The reception in the ARM MoD was attended by delegates from over 23 countries. Vardan Avetisyan, Chief of Information and Public Affairs Department, made an opening speech where he stressed that the AGBU has been the leader in charitable, educational, cultural and social areas since the beginning of the 20th century, due to its national preservation and patriotic activities. AGBU President Perch Setrakyan emphasized on the Diaspora’s contribution in military constructions and briefly touched upon the key aspects of the Union’s activities, while stating that they are focused on further development of the Armenian military education system. ARM Defence Minister Seyran Ohanyan praised the Homeland-Diaspora solidarity and presented the guests with the ongoing reforms within the Armenian Army and the Diaspora’s contribution in military constructions. The Minister of Defence expressed his deepest gratitude to the AGBU for continuously supporting the Republic of Armenia and its Armed Forces. Seyran Ohanyan also answered questions asked by the guests and assured that the Armenian Army is able to fulfill any task brought upon them, while repulsing the enemy’s attacks. At the end of the event Seyran Ohanyan awarded the AGBU with the coat of arms of the Armenian Armed Forces. Within the frame of the delegation’s visit, demonstrative speeches were held at the ARM MoD administrative complex, presenting the professional skills of the Armenian Army’s various units.
