The regular monitoring of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border was conducted
30 January, 2015 00:00On January 29, the regular monitoring of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border was conducted on November 14 under the mandate of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office. This time it was conducted in Berqaber village of the Tavush province.
Before the monitoring, Field Assistants of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Yevgeni Sharov (Ukraine), Khristo Khristov (Bulgaria) and Peter Svedberg (Sweden) visited the Tavush Regional Administration along with RA MoD 3rd Army Corps representatives, and were briefed on the situation at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, within the Tavush province, by Deputy Governor of Tavush Levon Sargsyan. During the briefing, the parties thoroughly discussed issues related to the withdrawal of snipers from the Armenian-Azerbaijani borders as well as registered shots fired by the Azerbaijani side at the Armenian population and vehicles traveling on border roads. Field Assistants of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office thanked the Armenian side for presenting their accumulated information and noted that the information will be included in their annual reports.
According to their last agreement, the monitoring was supposed to be conducted in Voskepar village; however the Azerbaijani side announced at the last moment that they cannot guarantee safety around the given section of the border. The monitoring in Berqaber village was held at a certain distance from the border, for the Azerbaijani side has once again refused to grant access to the OSCE representatives in their territory.
Moreover, at the end of the monitoring, cases of ceasefire violation by the Azerbaijani side have been recorded around the residential sector of Kayanavan. However, Azerbaijan refuted this information.
