Surprise visit to the border unit
20 October, 2014 00:00On October 19, RA Defence Minister Seyran Ohanyan went to the border unit subject to the third army corps, on a surprise visit.
The Minister of Defence was accompanied by the RA MoD Chief of Staff Garnik Hayrapetyan, Army Corps Commander, Colonel Onik Gasparyan, and others.
Mr. Seryan Ohanyan inspected the barracks, spoke with servicemen, observed with the social and living conditions of the military personnel, checked the unit’s special agenda for Sunday and generally observed the service management features. The Minister of Defence also verified the guard service organization and gave the appropriate instructions and orders.
The check-up concluded with the inspection of food and sanitary conditions in the canteen. Minister Ohanyan had lunch with the soldiers and asked them whether they are satisfied with the quality and range of food provided, as well as the set of portions.
The Minister of Defence also took part in the Sunday event aimed at strengthening the army-society relationship, organized within the military unit. The Minister presented the achievements and future plans of the Armed Forces, thanked the soldiers for their diligent and dedicated service, and awarded a number of soldiers and officers for their exemplary behaviour and service.
At the end of his visit in the border unit, Mr. Seyran Ohanyan went to the south-eastern border military bases to verify the strength and reliability of defence and engineering structures. The Minister spoke with soldiers from the defence forces, met with their level of preparedness and the moral within the military personnel.
On the same day, the Defence Minister also visited the Berkaber community of the Tavush region, talked with the residents, observed their problems and answered their questions.
