The republican draft board took place

On October 17, the republican draft board meeting was held in the administrative complex of the RA Ministry of Defence, presided by RA Defence Minister Seyran Ohanyan, during which the committee summarized the results of the soldier recruitment for the summer of 2014 and also discussed this winter’s recruitment plan.

The session was attended by concerned heads of RA departments, governors, chief staffs of the MoD, AF and the General Staff of the Armed Forces, medical representative committees and others. Defence Minister Seyran Ohanyan welcomed the attendees and emphasized on the necessity of this event, noting that one of the most important processes for the armed forces within the framework of the soldier recruitment is its replenishment. The Minister of Defence stated that, due to the joint efforts of all institutions participating to the recruitment process, the implementation of the process has reached a higher ground during the last couple of years. During the session, the main report was conducted by the Chief of General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, Colonel-General Yuri Khachaturov. The Colonel-General spoke about the previous results of the soldier recruitment and touched upon the issues of the future recruitment process. He also presented some of the positive trends and certain registered gaps. A reference was made to the quantity of conscript soldiers; the statistical data of recruitees recognized as unfit for the military service; the accomplished works of military commissariats and medical commission departments. The alleged violations of the last recruitment process, as well as the registration and accounting of young people, the medical examination, those separated from the service due to illness, the penalties and administrative sanctions against conscription evasion and other issues related to this process were addressed throughout the session. A number of officers and servicemen were awarded with administrative medals, certificates and valuable gifts by the Minister of Defence, for their active participation in the organization of the summer recruitment process. The RA Minister of Defence summarized the executed works of the committee, thanked the attendees for their cooperation and expressed hope that through the close collaboration between all agencies responsible for the recruitment, the process will be successfully organized, without any obstacles. Mr.Seyran Ohanyan also gave a set of instructions and orders to properly arrange and conduct this winter’s recruitment process, by taking measures against possible corruption risks and implementing strict control over the medical examination for recruitees.
