Round table discussion on information security provision issues

On May 15, a round table discussion was held in the administrative building of the ARM MoD, on increasing efficiency of the information security, involving the specialists from various institutions and enterprises operating in Armenia and implementing scientific, professional and practical operations, within the field of information technologies.

Discussion was attended by the First Deputy Defence Minister Davit Tonoyan, Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Major General L. Mnatsakanyan, heads of departments and separate subdivisions of the ARM MoD, AAF and GS of AAF, directors of research centres companies, as well as managers and specialists of the companies from the information technology field . Welcoming remarks were made by the First Deputy Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan, who highlighted that discussion was held to assess the threats, risks and challenges for the Republic of Armenia within the fields of the information security, including the field of cyber-security, as well as aiming to identify existing shortcomings and directions of the solution to the mentioned issues: "Within the strategic defence review of the Republic of Armenia, information technology security issues are given a great importance. Within the framework of the first stage of the review, we assessed the threats for Armenia such as the media war. We must use the joint efforts of the public administration, research and entrepreneurial spheres for identification of forms, methods and necessary resources to neutralize these threats, as well as guaranteeing the availability, integrity and security of information», said, D. Tonoyan. Main speaker, the head of the "Arminco " company, Grigor Saghyan presented general provision of the computer security. Comments on the concept of the information security, approaches and methods of ensuring the information security in different countries, as well as legislative acts regarding in regard, were highlighted in the report. In the remarks of the specialists, participating in discussion, from the research and entrepreneurial fields, the nature of the information and cyber threats for Armenia, in particular for the defence system, were clarified. Proposals were made regarding the cooperation in combating threats, application of the latest technology, as well as the exchange of professional experience with the scientific centers, in particular with youth. In concluding remarks, the First Deputy Defence Minister Davit Tonoyan emphasized such discussion with the specialists from the various institutions and enterprises operating in Armenia and implementing scientific, professional and practical operations, within the field of information technologies. After assuring that the proposals and views, expressed in the conference, will have thorough discussions in the ministry, Davit Tonoyan expressed his hope that the effective cooperation with the specialists and the enterprises from this fields will continue in the nearest future.
