A technical agreement signed on re-stationing of an Armenian peacekeeping subdivision in Kabul

On May 12-13, Head of the Defence Policy Department of the ARM MoD Levon Ayvazyan attended the military-political planning conference of the countries providing forces to the Northern Command within ISAF mission implemented by NATO in Afghanistan, which was held in Potsdam (Germany).

During the conference, the sides discussed issues regarding the planning of NATO’s “Resolute Support” mission due to be launched in 2015 in Afghanistan. 19 countries attending the conference agreed upon the conception of the structure, the military planning and the provision due to be established in the north of Afghanistan. The Armenian side reiterated its commitment to take part in “Resolute Support” mission to Germany, which is the leading country of the Northern Command. Within the framework of the conference, Levon Ayvazyan and the Head of the Strategy and Operations Department of the Federal Ministry of Defense of Germany, Rear Admiral Thomas Jugel, signed an interdepartmental technical agreement on redeployment of an Armenian peacekeeping unit to the Camp Qasaba military unit in Afghanistan’s capital city Kabul.
