Meeting at the administrative building of the ARM MoD

On April 22, ARM Defence Minister Seyran Ohanyan received the senior representatives of the Central Administrative Board of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) and the senior staff of the American University of Armenia (AUA) headed by a member of the Central Administrative Board of the AGBU President Vazgen Yakubyan and the president of the AUA Dr. Bruce Bogosian.

During the meeting, an agreement was signed between the ARM Ministry of Defense, the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) and the American University of Armenia (AUA). According to the agreement the following programs will be implemented by the AUA, fully funded by the AGBU: training of the MoD and AAF English teachers, educational program for the mandatory servicemen during the last six months of their service, training and qualification courses for the special civil service and military personnel of the ARM MoD, scholarship for the representatives of the ARM MoD and AAF to obtain Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in the AUA as well as a number of other courses. During the meeting, Defense Minister emphasized the importance of cooperation with AUA , which is expanding year by year, showing positive results. It was noted that a number of representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces received an opportunity to participate and complete the course of prolonged education department, which improved their to professional skils. In essence, one of them is currently enrolled in Master`s degree in AUA, given the scholarship by the AGBU. In May-June 2013 listeners Training Center officer training Military Institute. Vazgen Sargsyan had the opportunity to attend Dr. Arpi Balian`s, director of the department of special courses of the AUA, the lectures on leadership and management. Currently this course is included in the curriculum of 2014 based on the command and staff courses, is being delivered by two separate programs - for the representatives of the middle and senior officer staff. Defense Minister S. Ohanyan expressed his gratitude to the Armenian General Benevolent Union and the Diaspora for their continued support to Armenia, including the Armenian Armed Forces, as well as to the leadership of the American University of Armenia - for their willingness and commitment to implement the programs.
