ARM MoD delegation at the NATO headquarters

On April 14, the delegation headed by the First Deputy Defence Minister of the Republic of Armenia Davit Tonoyan participated in “Political and Partnership Committee+Armenia” meeting in NATO headquarters, chaired by Jonathan Parish, Deputy Assistant Secretary General of the Defense Policy and Planning Division of NATO.

During the meeting, the Armenian delegation presented to representatives of member and partner states of the Alliance the process and prospects of defense reforms carried out in Armenia. Armenia`s 2014 Partnership objectives have been discussed and agreed upon within the Planning and Review Process (PARP). The participants hailed Armenia`s participation in NATO actions, the progress registered in development of defense education, management, expansion of transparency, promotion of human rights in the armed forces, democratic control and other fields. as well as enphasizing the importance of ensuring continuity of cooperation with NATO in the field of defence reforms. On the same day Davit Tonoyan also met with NATO Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy, Ambassador Thrasyvoulos Terry Stamatopoulos. The sides exchanged opinions on prospects of cooperation with NATO as well as international and regional issues.
