The meeting was attended by the First Deputy Defence Minister Davit Tonoyan, the Head of Staff of the ARM Minister of Defence Garnik Hayrapetyan and the Head of Department of Information and Public Affairs Vardan Avetisyan. By the minister’s characterization, the meeting was an attempt to talk to women openly about the army building process, achievements and problems, to look at them from the women perspectives, to engage in an honest and direct dialogue, as well as to discuss personal and service issues. In his congratulatory remarks, Seyran Ohanyan noted that, the Armenian woman has been the most important guarantee of the strength, protection and reliable future of the homeland, because the Armenian woman gives birth and educates future soldiers, architects and ministers of the homeland, the Armenian woman keeps the bright hearth and in case of a danger, the Armenian woman is the one who arms and stands next to a soldier who protects the homeland from the enemy. In the period of formation of the Armenian army, the Armenian woman found strength to commit herself to the military service, volunteered to bear the entire burden of straps and with her presence, disseminate strength, kindness, tolerance, love and tenderness in the armed forces. During a frank and honest conversation, numerous problems and issues of women servicemen and mothers with many children were discussed as well as given solutions. Seyran Ohanyan assured that similar open meetings will be held on a regular basis and involve larger volumes. Defence Minister Seyran Ohanyan presented a surprise gift to those mothers whose sons currently serve in the armed forces, as they were awarded 10-day encouraging vacation.
