At the meeting designed for increasing and improving operative staff officer’s skills and capacities in areas of strategic and operational art the executive staff of the ARM MoD, Armed Forces and GS AF, commanders of military corps and units, as well as the command staff of State Border Troops and Police inner forces were present. Throughout the meeting, lectures were given by the Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan, Secretary of National Security Arthur Baghdasaryan, Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan, Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Colonel General Yuri Khachaturov, Deputy Ministers of Defense David Tonoyan, Ara Nazaryan and Alik Mirzabekyan. The lectures covered topics such as regional political-military situation and regional security, domestic and foreign policy, issues of strategic development, results of the strategic defense review and process of defense reforms, modernization of arms and military technology, cooperation between command staff of the Armed Forces and military law enforcement agencies, etc. The operational meeting was followed by round-table discussions, at which issues regarding the defense sector and ensuring national security were discussed. Within the framework of the meeting uniform views, considerations and approaches were formed aimed at bringing the tactical preparedness of the troops to a higher level, deployment, adopting the valid decisions, planning tactical operations, organizing educational and training processes. On March 25, the personnel participating at the operational meeting visited Marshal Baghramyan military training centre of the ARM MoD. Based on the operational meeting plan, practical and demonstrative training and fire training exercises were organized with the participants, based on professional groups and sub-groups. Within the frame of demonstrative trainings, the participants were presented with special armaments, military hardware, models of modern communication means and the ways and opportunities of their application and handling. At the military training centre training was organized with tactical fire on “Operations of infantry battalion with mortar engine at the defensive battle of infantry regiment” subject. The results of the Armed Forces executive staff’s operational meeting were summed up on March 27, at the administrative complex of the ARM MoD. In his report, presenting the achieved results and outlining the most active participants of the meeting, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Colonel General Yuri Khachaturov gave a positive grade to the accomplished work. In the final speech, highlighting the diverse and properly organized acitivites during the operational meeting, the Minister of Defense noted that the personnel involved in the annual operational meetings is showing more active participation and readiness. The most active participants received rewards at the final part of the meeting.
