During the visit the President and Defence Minister of Armenia had meetings with the President of the Republic of Nagorno Karabagh B. Sahakyan, NKR Defence Army Commander Lieutenant General Movses Hakobyan and senior command staff. They also visited front lines of several DA military bases located in the northern part of the republic. Serzh Sargsyan and Seyran Ohanyan were first briefed on the current state of ongoing armed forces development processes, then observed of the military exercisesin the north-eastern part of NKR performed by a separate motorized rifle unit battalion demonstrating seizure of a defence line, elements of defensive warfare, and specifics of command and harmonization of operations conducted by subordinate units. The leadership was also present at the opening ceremony of newly-built entertainment facilities for the command staff and officers at a military base. After the demonstration session, the Presidents, Defence Ministers and Command Staff of the two Armenian Republics held a consultation at the headquarters of the Defence Army.
