Newly-elected members of the Public Council adjacent to the Defense Minister met with D.Tonoyan, First Deputy Defense Minister, A.Nazaryan, Deputy Defense Minister, Major-General A.Aleksanyan, Head of Morale and Welfare Department and M.Shirinyan, Head of Personnel and Military Education Department to consider upcoming projects and outline the future cooperation.

During the meeting the participants discussed the need to increase the public trust in the armed forces,to improve the appropriate legislation in order to provide better social and legal guarantees for military service members, etc. Congratulating the new members and the re-elected Head of the Council Gegham Harutyunyan Davit Tonoyan wished them success and expressed hope that efforts of the new members to strengthen relations between the armed forces and the society will add to the achievements of the previous Council. D.Tonoyan mentioned key directions of cooperation with the Public Council that are important at the current phase of defense reforms underway in the Armed Forces. He particularly underlined the role of the Council to convey public concerns and problematic issues to the ministry without any prejudice and come up with possible solutions to them. G. Harutyunyan presented the upcoming projects and the action plan of 2013. The participants emphasized the importance of the support from both the Defense Ministry and international non-governmental organizations to accomplish these projects. At a separate meeting of the Council with A.Nazaryan participants referred to activities of the Legal Department, Investigation Service and the Military Police.
