On September 29 a regular board session of the “Humanitarian Demining and Expertise Center" NPO, chaired by A. Nazaryan, Deputy Defense Minister, was held at the Ministry of Defense with Johannes Odendaal, Project Manager of the Swiss Foundation for Mine Action (FSD) in Armenia and Ilona Ter-Minasyan, Head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission in Armenia among the participants.

Johannes Odendaal thoroughly presented the proposal program of the Swiss organization for assistance to demining operations in Armenia that had been presented to the US Department of State for approval. At the meeting the participants referred to issues of humanitarian capacity building in demining operations, mapping of mined areas, operation of special technologies including drone designated for demining actions and the necessity to establish a Board of Trustees to facilitate the cooperation with international donors. Johannes Odendaal emphasized the commitment of the Swiss foundation toward the fulfillment of the first phase of the program in Armenia which will enable to expand future cooperation in the humanitarian demining sector. The board of the “Humanitarian Demining and Expertise Center" NPO comprised of the Deputy Ministers of the Defense, Justice, Emergency Situations and Territorial Administration is a collegial and an advisory body.
