CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Force "Cooperation-2012" Joint Military Exercise Has Begun

The official opening ceremony of the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Force "Cooperation-2012" joint military exercise took place at "Marshal Baghramyan" training ground on September 15.

Seyran Ohanyan, Minister of Defense of Armenia, made an opening speech. Welcoming the participating national units, the Minister underlined the uniqueness of the military trainings in the military history of Armenia and added that it contributes toward the further development of the military cooperation and mutual understanding in the framework of CSTO. Seyran Ohanyan emphasized the projects implemented and the ones to be implemented in the framework of the CSTO, noting that the organization plays a serious role in the security of the member-states. The Minister wished success to all participants expressing hope that the joint efforts will enable them to cope with all the tasks during the trainings. After Seyran Ohanyan`s opening speech, the national anthems were played and the flags raised of the participating member-states, after which, the representatives of the national units made speeches. Anatoliy Timoshenkov, Councilor of the Department of Military Security of the CSTO, general-major A. Yakovlev, representative of CSTO United Staff and other representatives of the member-states made speeches. Parachutists of the Russian Airborne Troops units made demonstrative landings with the national flags of CSTO member-states. At the end of the official opening ceremony the national units marched in front of the commanding staff.
