Seyran Ohanyan Hosted Lieutenant-General Rainer Glatz, Commander of Bundeswehr Operations Command

On September 11, Seyran Ohanyan, Minister of Defense of Armenia, hosted Lieutenant-General Rainer Glatz, Commander of Bundeswehr Operations Command.

Welcoming the delegation headed by Lt Gen Rainer Glatz, Seyran Ohanyan noted that Armenia highly appreciates the cooperation with the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Germany in the framework of NATO ISAF. “Armenian peacekeepers have been successfully carrying out their part of the joint responsibility both with German and other countries’ peacekeepers for already two and a half years. The formula of this success is based on warm and friendly cooperation between Armenia and Germany”, said the Armenian Minister at the meeting and added that Armenia plans to provide troops for operations in Afghanistan in the same format also in 2013. Afterward, Seyran Ohanyan informed Lt Gen Rainer Glatz about the experience of the Armenian Armed Forces in international peacekeeping operations. Thanking for the warm reception, Lt Gen Rainer Glatz highly appreciated Armenia’s participation in peacekeeping operations in Afghanistan stressing “the high level of trustworthiness, reliability and professionalism” of Armenian service members. Lt Gen Rainer Glatz was also hosted by Yuri Khachaturov, Chief of General Staff of the ARM armed forces on the same day. They discussed issues of mutual interest including the prospective of future cooperation.
