A Scheduled Monitoring on the Borderline Between Armenia and Azerbaijan

On July 25, a scheduled monitoring was conducted by the OSCE Office on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in Tavush region next to Aygepar community.

Anthal Herdic and Irjie Aberle, Field Assistants to the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office conducted the monitoring on the Armenian side. The monitoring was conducted from a certain distance via radio communication. The Azerbaijani side again refused the Armenian suggestion to cross the border and carry out a direct monitoring. The monitoring was conducted without any incidents. At the end of the monitoring Anthal Herdic and Irjie Aberlemet met the Heads of the communities of Movses and Nerqin Karmiraghbyur. They informed about the situation in the frontier regions, and violations of the ceasefire by Azerbaijan. They also drew the attention of the representatives on frequent shooting at Armenian settlements by the Azerbaijani side making the peaceful population the main target to suffer. The Field Assistants visited the village of Nerqin Karmiraghbyur and met with Gor Pilosyan who had been wounded on July 21 while working in the field.
