Progress in strengthening the discipline

In the past two years, considerable progress has been achieved in strengthening the discipline and enhancing psychological conditions within the Armenian Armed Forces. Minister of Defence Seyran Ohanyan talked about this subject in the session of Ministry Board held at MoD administrative complex on March 22.

On March 22, a session of the Ministry Board was held to discuss issues of moral and psychological support in the Armenian Armed Forces and finding of possible national ideology-based solutions to them as well as the process of fighting vicious practices in cooperation with law enforcement agencies.Among the participants were Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces Colonel General Yuri Khachaturov, deputies and heads of different departments of MoD and GS, army corps and army commanders and representatives of the National Security Service and the Police. In his speech the Defense Minister noted that in recent years significant work has been done in this area of the armed forces."Our activities are permanent and boundless in strengthening the discipline.Despite the tangible success we have, even a single casualty comes to show that we still have problems to tackle and improve the statistics," said Seyran Ohanyan. Defense Minister also said that the reforms carried out in the Armed Forces throughout the recent years oncomplex measures to assure favorable psychological conditions for troops, new principles and approaches in carrying out informational- educational activities, multidimensional preventive activities undertaken for strengthening military discipline led to positive results and to a progress in figures. During the session, Head of the Moral and Welfare department Major-General A. Alexanian delivered his main report. Among other speakers were Head of the Information and Public Relations department V.Avetisyan, Head of Combat Readiness of AF Department Major-General I.Matevosyan, Commander of the Military Institute by V.Sargsyan Lieutenant-General M. Karapetyan, corps and army commanders and others mostly concentrating on problems of psychological support in the Armed Forces. After lively discussions Minister of Defence issued a number of tasks and a set a clear timetable for the proper implementation of the established projects.
