On June 2, there has been a discussion on "National Civil Project Planning of Mine Clearance in Armenia" at the UN`s office of Armenia with the support of International Organization for Migration, with participation of ARM first Defense Deputy Minister Davit Tonoyan and ARM Defense Deputy Minister, Board chairman of "Humanitarian Deminig and Expertise Center" SNCO A. Nazaryan. Board members and the director of the SNCO, members of International Trust Fund and Swiss Foundation for Mine Action, as well as representatives of US embassy took part in the discussion.

In his opening speech ARM first Defense Deputy Minister Davit Tonoyan mentioned the relevance of having humanitarian demining national program in Armenia, emphasizing the multilateral assistance to the future activities of the center as a result of international cooperation. During the discussion international experts presented possible variants to solve the primary issues of the center, concerning the adoption of national mine clearance criteria, conduction new examination of suspicious mine-affected areas, and development of conceptual documents on its basis. Other issues were also discussed.
