The Official Visit of Georgian Minister of Defence Bacho Akhalaya to Armenia

By the invitation of ARM Minister of Defence Seyran Ohanyan today Georgian MoD Bacho Akhalaya arrived in Armenia on an official visit.

After the official meeting-ceremony, Seyran Ohanyan and Bacho Akhalaya had a tête-à-tête conversation, followed by a meeting of the delegations of the defence departments of the two countries. The outcomes of the negotiations were summarized during a joint press conference of the ministers of defence of Armenia and Georgia. Underlining the importance of developing the cooperation with Georgia in the defence sphere, Seyran Ohanyan particularly said, “The Armenian-Georgian military cooperation is progressing effectively, embracing spheres of peacekeeping, military education, military trainings, and so on. This cooperation aims at ensuring exchange of experiences and developing an atmosphere of mutual trust around the peaceful settlement of regional security issues.” The ministers of defence of Armenia and Georgia agreed that regional conflicts should only be settled peacefully. Thanking for cordial reception, the Georgian MoD mentioned that the necessary fundaments are laid for the further development of the Armenian-Georgian cooperation in the defence sector. In the framework of his visit to Armenia, today the Georgian MoD will visit “Tsitsernakaberd” memorial of the victims of the Armenian Genocide, as well as the Military Institute after Vazgen Sargsyan.
