On October 16 2007 Armenian defense Minister Michael Haroutounyan received the delegation headed by the rapporteur on the South Caucasus at the European Parliament Mrs. Lydie Polfer.

At the beginning of the meeting the parties turned to the current state and perspectives of development of Armenia-EU cooperation. Michael Haroutounyan underlined that the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia have adopted the policy of developing cooperation with all interested countries in the field of defense and security. Turning to the defense reforms in Armenia, the Defense Minister said the improvement of democratic mechanisms at RA Armed Forces proceeds stably and within preset terms. Parties also discussed a number of issues concerning regional security.
