On April 14, 2008 RA President Serzh Sargsyan signed a decree on releasing Colonel-General Seyran Ohanyan from the responsibilities of the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, RA Deputy Defense Minister and military duty.

According to another decree, signed by Presidnet Serzh Sargsyan on April 14, 2008 Seyran Ohanyan was appointed the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia.
