The closing ceremony of the "Human Rights and Women in the Armed Forces of Armenia - Phase II" program took place

On December 13, the closing ceremony of the "Human Rights and Women in the Armed Forces of Armenia - Phase II" program, officially launched in July 2020, took place.
During the closing ceremony of the program conducted by the Council of Europe within the framework of the 2019-2022 actions for Armenia, the 30-month joint effective work was briefly presented, and the importance of the program in the field of ensuring human rights in the armed forces was once again emphasized. The program contributed to institutional and legal changes in the field of defence, the implementation of a number of measures of the 2020-2022 action plan, resulting from the strategy for the protection of human rights of the Republic of Armenia.

Welcoming the attendees and thanking the partners assisting in the implementation of the project, RA Deputy Minister of Defence Arman Sargsyan highly appreciated the effective and reliable cooperation formed, the successful course of which allows us to anticipate the upcoming joint events.

Stressing that one of the key areas of the reforms carried out in the RA Armed Forces is the protection of human rights and the exclusion of non-statutory relations, the development of military education and science, raising awareness of servicemen, expanding the involvement of women in the Armed Forces, modernization of the social protection system of servicemen, Arman Sargsyan noted that cooperation with the Council of Europe in the near future will cover a number of new directions.

The partners of the program are the RA Ministries of Defence and Justice, the Office of the Representative on International Legal Affairs, the staff of the Human Rights Defender, law enforcement agencies and civil society organizations.
