The delegation of the US European Command is in Armenia

On January 19, a delegation led by US European Command deputy director for partnership, security cooperation and space opportunities brigadier general Edward Vaughan arrived in Armenia on a two-day working visit.

The delegation of the US European Command was received by the RA Deputy Minister of Defence Arman Sargsyan. The meeting was also attended by US ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Armenia Lynn Tracy. The interlocutors discussed issues related to regional security, Armenian-American bilateral cooperation in the field of defence. The parties expressed readiness to continue the development of cooperation within the framework of existing programs, to initiate new directions of cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The delegation was also received by the deputy head of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces, Major General Arakel Martikyan. During the discussions on the Armenian-American military cooperation, major general A. Martikyan outlined the importance of cooperation in the fields of peacekeeping, military medicine and education, and suggested new efforts to develop that cooperation. The American side came up with a number of proposals, including programs for the rehabilitation of wounded soldiers and the development of rapid response systems in emergency situations.

During the visit, the delegation led by brigadier general Edward Vaughn visited the brigade of the RA Ministry of Defence peacekeeping forces, took part in the welcoming ceremony of the shift of Armenian peacekeepers who recently returned from Kosovo. The delegation visited the National Defence Research University of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, as well as the Central Clinical Military Hospital of the Ministry of Defence, where the ceremony of handing over the technical equipment of the field hospital acquired with the support of the USA took place.
