During the years of struggle, when the question of whether or not Artsakh and the Armenians of Artsakh were at stake, the almighty time gave birth of a natural grace, a glorious generation of talented commanders and devotees of war, for whom the defence of the homeland was paramount purpose.

We testify today that they have given a new meaning and content to their practices called values ​​of patriotism, justice, honesty, devotion, turning them into conduct and principle, and most importantly, they have become a guideline for us all.

Monte Melkonian's, the legendary Avo's role in the Artsakh Liberation War is indiputable. This struggle became for him the supreme leap of the spirit, into the realm of heroism, in which he affirmed the simple truth that man derives his strength from the mother land, and that land must also be endowed with the spirit and the power of the arm.

I congratulate the entire Armenian nation on the birthday of Monte Melkonyan, the national hero of Armenia and Artsakh.
